Description

The 3 Metre Travelling Beam Device is a precision road surface testing instrument designed to detect and measure irregularities in both concrete and bituminous pavements. Widely used in highway construction, road maintenance, and quality assurance projects, the device accurately evaluates surface profile deviations from a straight line. The integrated sensing unit, featuring a wheel connected to an indicator, provides a 4:1 magnification ratio for enhanced measurement accuracy.

The Travelling Beam is equipped with a calibrated scale showing deviations in 2 mm increments up to 10 mm and 5 mm increments up to 25 mm, allowing engineers to identify and quantify surface unevenness efficiently. A built-in dye marker enables quick marking of suspect areas, while the outrigger wheels ensure smooth mobility during field inspections. The device is supplied in three easily assembled sections and includes an autographic recorder for permanent recording of road surface profiles. Capable of recording profiles up to 1 kilometre, it is an essential quality control tool for road construction, pavement evaluation, and infrastructure projects.
